I'm a project manager for the Illinois State Comptroller, who is elected to serve as the state's Chief Fiscal Officer. Most of the projects I work on are of a digital nature and aim to increase public access to state and local government records.
I have a dual degree in journalism and political science from Southern Illinois University. I expect to complete this spring specializations in Data Science from Johns Hopkins University and Databases from Stanford University.
Before going to work for the government, I was a reporter, columnist, and blogger for a number of news outlets including Capitol Fax, Reuters, and the Daily Egyptian. My wife, Jenny, daughter, Robin, and I live in Springfield, Ill.
