I am looking for a database / API, where I can search books by international title, name of author. I pass a keyword i.e. "Magány", "Solitude", and I get back a list of matching books with author, title and thumbnail. 

I am from Hungary, two of our book publisher are [Libry][1] and [Alexandra][2]. Do you know do publisher use any international DB? Where do they get the thumbnails / cover photos of the book the show on their website?

I want to make a book recommendation site. Can I use thumbnails publisher use on their site?
