I'm conducting research on language endangerment and I can't find open data on the number of speakers of different languages. I'm aware that there are some databases on the current number of speakers: Ethnologue has one but it's not open; the UNESCO has another but the mechanism to request it is broken, and the only one I was able to access was the one of the Endangered Languages Project. However, I would be more interested in having a time series for the number of speakers of those languages, not for every language, but for the higher number possible.
