I need to calculate the average slope over an area for thousands of polygons with locations all over the globe. The polygon areas are small, less than 1 square kilometer. I have to use a consistent dataset (i.e., DEMs with the same resolution), highest resolution available. I'll be doing this in ArcPy.
I think that the general process is Get DEM > Slope Spatial Analyst tool > Spatial Analyst Zonal Statistics Mean (based on Need to calculate several polygon`s average slope at GeoNet).
Because my polygons are all over the globe, how can I be efficient about only downloading the DEM coverage I need for that polygon?
Is there an ArcPy or another tool that people use for this?
